Three midday concerts of Raga Vrindabani Sarang in the contemporary Kirana gharana (style) of North Indian Classical Music will be performed by The Just Alap Raga Ensemble with La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela, Jung Hee Choi and Naren Budhkar in a memorial tribute to Pandit Pran Nath on the 21st anniversary of his passing, Sunday, July 1; Saturday, July 7 and Sunday, July 15 at 1 pm in the MELA Foundation Dream House light environment by Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi, 275 Church Street, 3rd Floor.
La Monte Young, Marian Zazeela and Jung Hee Choi, voices; with Naren Budhkar, tabla; will be accompanied by The Tamburas of Pandit Pran Nath from the Just Dreams CD. The Just Alap Raga Ensemble will perform Pandit Pran Nath’s special arrangement of “Kahana Koomwar alla beyla” a traditional vilampit khayal composition set in Raga Vrindabani Sarang.
